~What have I learnt from watching the video clip : Finish Strong
I think the video that Mdm Azizah showed us was very inspiring. The people in the video like the surfer, was a normal person until a shark bite off her arm. Though she was missing an arm, she was determined to make her dreams come true and surf again. But she did not just wait for things to happen. She practiced and practiced until she could surf. This tells us that we must take action if we want to achieve something and not just wait and do nothing. Like this year, we are going to be streamed into different classes at the end of the year depending on our results. I want to achieve good results at the end of the year. But for that to happen, I must study hard. Not just sit around and wait for things to happen. I hope that all of you will enjoy the video that I posted. The video is about a man named Patrick Henry Hughes. He was born blind and crippled yet he plays the piano very well and "marches" in the Louisville marching band.

~What is a haiku ?
What is a haiku ? A haiku is a form of Japanese poetry. It consist of 3 lines . It is arranged in three metrical phrases with the number of syllables of 5(first line) , 7(second line) and 5(third or last line) . They do not usually rhyme like a normal poem does.

~What are the effects of taking drugs ?
Drugs are split into 4 main categories which are stimulants , depressants, hallucinogens and painkillers. Stimulants increase heart rate, making you chatty and confident. They can also put a lot of strain on the heart. Users can become depressed after using stimulants. Depressants slow down the heart rate, making users feel relaxed. They can also make users feel depressed, drowsy and unable to concentrate. Users of hallucinogens see things in vivid colours and often see things that aren't really there. The feelings from these drugs can be very intense, and can make you very giggly and 'drunk'. They can also make you paranoid and depending on your mood and environment, you may have a bad trip, which can be very scary. Painkillers numb the senses, and can make people feel better. They can be very addictive. Many are prescribed by doctors. However, 'recreational' painkillers can be highly dangerous.
Different drugs will show different types of symptoms depending on which category they belong to. I think that drugs can be pretty dangerous and it could put a person's life at risk. People die as a result of taking drugs for a long time.

~What are some of the common drugs now ?
Some of the common drugs are ice, ecstasy, opium, cocaine, cannabis, heroine and ketamine. Cocaine, crack, alkyl nitrites, amphetamine, MDMA , anabolic steroids, methylampetamine, khat and PMA are stimulants. Heroine, tranquillisers, solvents(glue and gases), ketamine, GHB and benzodiazepines are depressants. LSD, magic mushrooms and cannabis are hallucinogen.

~Why do people take drugs ?
People especially children and teenagers are ignorant about drugs. Even though schools have given talks about drugs, some choose to turn a deaf ear. Children in primary school especially the young ones may not understand bout it. They are then curious to know about drugs. Some children have parents who may be drug addicts and they think it will be okay to take drugs so they may follow in their parents footsteps by taking drugs. The parents who are drug addicts may not have notice it as they do not care what their children do. In the end, the children will also be addicted to drugs and it will affect their studies and health. Some children as young as 6 years old have died because of drugs. Teenagers are the most common people to take drugs. They think that by taking drugs, it will take their troubles away, make them feel 'high' and make them feel good. Even those who are the 'innocent' take drugs due to bad influence with friends and adults who are drug addicts or strangers. Some teenagers might not even know that they had taken drugs. Adults are also influenced because of drugs. Some even became drug traffickers. They are then arrested and taken to a rehabilitation centre. The consequences of taking drugs or trafficking them are frightening as some schools have shown videos of what happens to them for example caning. I think that everybody should be aware of what are drugs and the consequences of taking them so that everybody can keep a lookout for those drug addicts and traffickers to help them conquer their addiction.
